A REPORT FOR OUR NOVEMBER 8th LUNCH MEETING AT AMERICAN LEGION POST 279

GIFT OF LIFE CHECK PRESENTATION: On Monday evening, it took 15 PV Rotarians to bring our giant sized $6,000 check to the GOL Annual Meeting at the Ukrainian Center in Whippany, but we needed only three of our strongest officers, President Ernie Pizza, GOL Chair Erick Jackowsky and V.P. Donna Cetani, to make the presentation! GIFT OF LIFE saves the lives of children by providing resources to treat children with congenital heart defects from anywhere in the world where assistance is needed. GOL helps in a number of ways, by bringing some children to the United States for surgery or sponsor overseas surgical missions, by training foreign surgeons and by providing needed equipment and supplies overseas. PV Rotary has supported GOL for over 35 years!

ROTARY SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS AND VETERANS

Next week, PV Rotary will be making a $13,000 contribution to the FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR FREEDOM FUND, a locally based organization who’s mission is to provide financial support grants to combat wounded service men and women from all branches of the United States Armed Forces. To date F&FFF has provided over $1,000,000 in assistance with virtually no administrative overhead. This year, one-third of the net proceeds of our PV Rotary Charity Golf Outing was pledged to the cause. The sterling silver Rotary "VICTORY PIN" shown at right dates from World War II. Many civilians on the home front wore many different types of victory pins with the common theme being the letter "V." This pin, has the addition of a Rotary membership emblem.
